London Marathon - 15 weeks to go

So with 15 weeks to go until the London Marathon I thought it would be a good idea to let people know my key workouts this week.If anybody has followed my training over the years, I'm a very big believer in high mileage as a base of endurance to build the foundation my body needs. This enables me to add speed work into my weekly plan to get the full benefits I need to improve. This week's workout…

Hayley Lamkin - Runners Edge Athlete

January has already been full of training and races for me. I started the year off with a Parkrun in Southend on New Years Day, not really expecting much as I hasn’t been well over Christmas. Ended up running a 19:06, which is 6 seconds off of my PB! That Saturday was the first cross country race of the year, Essex Champs. This year they had increased the distance for senior women from 8k to 10k…

Note to self

Note to self, need to keep the blog updated every week!I hope everyone’s training is going well, after a good race win at the Witham 5 on Boxing day around 5 weeks ago things haven’t been going as well as I would of hoped. The race was on a Friday morning and after running a personal best of 24.00 for 5 miles I was on a high, the next day I went straight into 2 easy recovery runs on the Saturd…

Training week 25-02-13

Hi, Hope everyone’s training is going well over this winter period! After having some thoughts and discussions with my dad (adviser) I’ve decided to update my training on this blog on a weekly basis. The main reason for this is to hopefully attract some people to the website and to show how my training is progressing towards the track season. Ill also include the extra supplementary …

South of England Cross Country Championships Brighton 15k

South of England Cross Country Championships Brighton 15kAfter having good results in my last few races I had only one tactic that was going to play a big part in how I was going to race the southerns which was to get high up into the top 3 places early on in the race.As the race was 15k over cross country I knew this kind of distance would suit me seeing as long term I am most probably suit…

Places to run..

Sorry for the long delay since my last blog on recovery which was almost a month ago?I’m back into full training now and I’m progressing quite nicely, this winter for me is a big building block for spring/summer next year where I can hopefully run some big PBs over my favourite distances:)The one thing I like in the winter/off season phase of training is the consistency of good workouts and lo…

Recovery After Hard Training and Racing

Recovery especially after hard races and training sessions are one of the key components in running performance that is regularly overlooked when it comes to distance runners. The big question after training that comes across an athlete's mind is 'how long will it take for me to recover before i can run another hard session'. Personally it all comes down to general fitness and how many hard sessio…

Season breaks

I am in the 2nd week of a 3 week break after the track season. Things have gone pretty well this year with a few PBs over the shorter distances (3000m-5000m) and I'm already itching to get back out running!  Winter training for me starts in November and I will have a gradual build up to my peak mileage which I will hold until the end of April 2012.  After a good winter last year of a maximum mil…
